Let the modding begin :P

Postby peter h » Wed Jun 15, 2011 2:38 pm

Hey All,

Before I start , I do believe this is all your Fault and You have no one else to blame :P

I have decided that my dark grey interior needs some contrast. Nothing Major, I've just decided to Carbon Vinyl my entire Centre console.

Carbon Vinyl is ordered and i have a plan, but a few questions first.

How easy is it to remove the handbrake covers and the gear stick surround on a 1/2008 1.6 vvt auto.
The panel that holds the radio looks pretty simple to remove, but the heater vent and radio hud/clock display looks like it could be a nightmare :P

any ideas before i set to work:p

On my one, the front half is just 4 clips it pops off. The other half closest to the door card, I can see has two screws from the outside and two from the inside of the door card.

this is her atm, only real mod is the window deflectors. Will hopefully have a set of 192 alloys soon and will then perhaps lower her a tad.
cant do too much as missus will kill me.

Inside All i have done so far is change the head unit to a Sony unit with smartdraw and change the front speakers to some apline sxe-1325S 200 watt jobbies.

i carbon wrapped what i believe is the door pilars your talking about in mines the other night, thers a pic in my progress thread (the link should appear below this message). If the handle bit ive done is the same bit you plan to do dont worry its not too bad :D the worst bit is trying not to crease the wrap when doing the top bit around the circular hole at the top although that was the first wrap id done, turned out well imo and everyone thats seen it have said it looks great. :D
Carbon wrapping will be a MUST in all future cars i have

first mod: remove standard radio and fit a sony head unit with connect 2 adapter
second mod: window deflectors
third mod: change front speakers to Alpine sxe 1325s
fourth mod: not fitted 19inch alloys from Gobzy, nice alloys shame he funked me over on the tyres (only done a 1000 miles he says, yep over razor wire by the looks), however thats a different story....would be nice if he contcacted me about it, but if no joy by end of week ill do a paypal dispute. shame really :?

Image

thinking im gonna have to change the tweeters as im getting a blown speaker sound from the front, but cant identify from where as im assuming the front speaker i fitted is ok..that might be a mistake.

any ways more to come

small update.

nothing much has changed.

Drivers front window stopped working unexpectedly, so took it back to the seller.

Window regulator was fine, the wiring loom was fried.

£41 later it was fixed (75% discount on parts from renault)

shame it took them 13 hours do sort it.

You will need a set of coilovers to go that low pal. Someone is selling a set of used V-Maxx coilovers on here at the moment.

Update alert:

plan on lowering by 45mm (says on the box) using SPax SSX springs £108 from Venom Motorsports,

been looking at Brake disks and pads as mine are worn, passed MOT but was given as an advise during the service (lots of meat but a lip is forming) any suggestions

I'm ashamed to say that i've been detailing the wifes car with candy pink and found that all the centre fascia bits come off real easy, air vents no probs (although no going to paint them now), tweeter grilles a doddle, door handles dead easy and gear gaiter ok after a lot of faffing (my gearknob won't come off) but the handbrake is a complete nightmare so it's staying silver
