Ive just bought some aftermarket Megane 225 bumpers from eBay, both front and back for 60 pound but spent 20 in petrol collecting them aha. Anyways ive prepped them and everything for spraying, and was planning on doing them myself, but im having second thoughts incase i mess them up.

Does anyone know any people in Brum whos cheap ? Like 80 each or something?

Thanks, Jake

Mate if your wanting a decent job thy spent flake of and have to be renewed in a couple of months I wouldn't pay anything less than £120 and I defiantly wouldn't go anywhere without previously seeing their work. I paid £50 for a respeay which I thought was great, unit it started flaking off.. So just speaking from my experience but imo it's defiantly one of the things where you get what you pay for...

sorry but the above isn't the best advice tbh, you could go to a big bodyshop and pay £120 or a smaller one and pay £80 and get the same results, bigger bodyshops have more over heads and have to pay more people wages so they have to cover that.

In the past 10 years i have worked in bodyshops of all different sizes and the smaller ones actually do better work as they take their time and pride in the work because they get most of their business through word of mouth and need to uphold a good reputation, wereas big bodyshops just try to turn them out as quick as possible and they always have alot of insurance work coming through their doors so they aren't that bothered about word of mouth.

I've had my bumper sprayed 3 times, £50 first time, buy a guy, his own business it wasn't keyed in properly and flaked off soon after, second £85 and apparently waver the vat... Large bodyshop again, poor job.. Third time small body shop very proud of their work, like you say, £120 and Finnish is spot on, so I was just speaking from my experience...
Also if he's prepped it himself I would imagine it's not to such a standard of a top quality bodyshop, so they will have to sort that aswell...

its not always down to price, where i work now we do bumpers for £70-90 and can safely say our work is alot better than a bodyshop down the road who charge around £150, so you can't say go somewhere that charges more.

as you said above always ask to see previous work they have done, maybe you should of listened to your own advice

99.9% of bodyshops won't take on jobs where people have prepped the parts themselves, each bodyshop has their own process of prepping and they know its done right when they do it themselves

Eddie- wrote:techy is right price is only a small part of things tbh, know a mate went to a guy that year's back had half the country lining up til get car's from corsa's till ferrari's, job he done was utter ***** had til get it all redone again and load of local guys will never touch him again after seeing the job. Just goes till show you do your research alot of it before hand.

also goes to show you can build up a massive reputation over years and it only takes one rushed/bad job and thats all gone down the toilet and ruined your reputation
