Dci 175 Mapping Options
Hi guys, im new here and thinking about buying a 175dci having come from owning impreza's and Evo's - i need a diesel for work since im starting a new job soon.
Ive read that the 175's are a good all round performer but what can you safely get them upto in terms of torque and bhp with a filter (DPF removal similar to a decat) and some possibly exhaust mods and more importantly, can the clutch take the new torque.
Options at the moment are the 175 Megane, 120d bmw or an older 330d bmw
Ive also been looking at the KTec racing website and can see a stage 2 mod section - anyone ever had this done?

Im not sure if this helps mate but ive been in a 175 remapped with a stage 2 remap (decat, exhaust, remap etc...) done at a local place that came out the other end with 241bhp, not sure of torque tho the car felt like a rocket... Altogether cost, if memory serves was £550...

Have a look there. I have done a few renaults on my drive way.
The results are proven on a rolling road day.

Cheers, I spoke with K-tec racing this morning and they pretty much said the same thing, looking at 350lb ft as well and so these things are going to shift and in-gear performance must be pretty good!
I think they're offering stage 2 for £700, though i might get a filter and a dpf replacement pipe fitted myself and just go for a map. I did ask if i can get away with taking out the DPF completely but apparently you cant stop the engine management light.
Any ideas on the best place to get a map on the south coast, im near Brighton?

Afraid im from sunny northern ireland so ive no idea of anywhere near you... Might be cheaper to get it done separately or elsewhere.... tho to my knowledge, and i may be corrected on this, you wont find a much better, reliable place to get it done then ktec. Thats if you have the 700 to throw at it

I'm a belfast boy too lad, forestside, end of the outer ring direction, what about yourself mate?
Aye I've seen a fair few from ballymena/londonderry... Not surprising considering the interest in cars there... Every 2nd car is a blinking starlet gt or a 106 gti

Im afraid i dont know what an RMS'er is mate so nope im not...
Heard good things about cummins, a friend got a new turbo in his 1.9 golf which, with a few tweaks took it from 105 to 210 bhp... you're a lucky man

lol, yea the inside of a Turbo does it for me!
I start on the 1st of November. Not much of a background as such. Just accuired a First MEng in Mechanical Engineering and before that an HND in Mec Eng. Although i'm a CAD 'Black Knight' if i do say so myself! which helped. Did a bit of work over the time for Denroy Plastics who you may know. (local company)
As to 240 BHP in a Meggy. There are plenty of folk on MeganeSport.net who are pushing 300 BHP +. But its the torque of a stage 2 175 that will do you damage. There are examples with over 400 lb ft.

Re: Dci 175 Mapping Options
So im booked in for the 2nd then??...
Mate there is nothing more i would want to do then work with cars, esp in the likes of torque tronix, auto tune etc... but im stuck in the middle of a 7yr uni course so no such luck. So instead i mod the life out of every car i touch, nothing chavvy (lexus lights are pushing it) or too over the top. The moment my insurance comes down under £1500 for a 175 i am buying one and hello 300bhp/400lb/ft....

Once rolling, yeah its the torque that matters! A diesel with a bit of BHP to get the engine spinning faster and a lot of torque's is monstrous. Im looking for 350 lb ft! Do the guys running 400+ have to forge the engine like some of the higher spec evo's?
I guess a new gear box and clutch is a must too lol!!
