Not something i've read on here before, but are there any gains/problems with decatting the dci?
I know its different with different engines and what not, but fords and vauxhalls seem to do well with a decat, how about the dci?
If anyones done it/know's any thing let me know

. I'm just curious.

https://www.venommotorsport.com/manufact ... del=MeganeNot too sure if I'd be bothered to de-cat as to MOT and legality issues, ie having to keep putting old cat back on it for MOT then stripping it off again after. The above link shows another alternative, high flow catalytic converters which are MOT complaint but they only list N/A (normally aspirated) cars. Try give k-tec racing a call as they are renault specialists so should be able to help or point you in right direction.

You should have no trouble passing the emisions test without a cat, if you believe all the posts on other forums. Just do some googling of diesel de-cat or something along those lines.

I've had a look around on some other forums, but it seems to vary from different manufacturers and their engines, IE VW TDI and ford TDCI. Some say its works well, some say its useless.
I just wondered if the dCi was able to free up some back pressure. For a simple mod, i thought this would be worth a look at.
I'll email ktec, see what they think.

I'm sure it would be fine but I await the reply from K-tec. With turbo's you want as little backpressure as possible, however there are other factors affecting gas flow aswell. In my mind the best thing to do is get a replacement cat from a scrappers and then hollow it out.

I was thinking exactly that today.
Rather than paying for one to be custom made, why not make my own.
I'll keep an eye out in the local scrappy for a 1.9 going in, what other renaults have this exhaust system?
Just wondering if i should keep my eye out for other models in the mean time.
Cheers, Anthony.

Think Laguna uses the same engine so would assume the CAT would be same. Best ask a exhaust supplier for definitive answer.
