Someone wrote a lengthy post about a tuning box. Apparently it worked okay until he 'turned it up to 11' at which point the dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree. I think the problem was solved by the use of an EOBD II code reader and turning the adjustment down a bit.

Personally I wouldn't strap one on mine - the way they work is a bit crude, I'd have it re-mapped (just my opinion).

EDIT: I just looked up the model you have bought. It quotes 165bhp for the 1.9dci - even respectable re-mapping companies wouldn't go above 150ish from what I've read. Take it easy on the clutch!

my cars a 1.5 so i dont think the jump is so bad, the cars a 57 plate so got a reasonable ammount of clutch to go at!lol really wanted it for the improved mpg as atm when driving really economically i only manage about 48-49

I have had a tuning box fitted to my megane 1.5 80bhp megane now for 2 years and never had a problem, my mpg has never dropped below 60mpg at this time of the year its usually about 62mpg and in summer it goes up slightly to 65mpg

that sounds great, exactly what i was hoping for, what type of box do you have? also what was your mpg prior to fitting it?

I would be interested to hear how you get on in that case - particularly before and after fuel economy.

i dont have exact figures for the before fitting of the tuning box but according to the trip computer it was around 54mpg , like i said i have now had this fitted for 2 years so when i first fitted it I started adding the fuel used , miles done , cost of fuel etc into my iphone and here are the results

Total miles 2,250
total fuel used in litres 160
cost of fuel in £ 163.28
Average MPG 64.48

I have mine set on the highest setting too with no problems, the brand of tuning box i am using is called cheetah i got it off fleabay for about £75. That test was done with no motorway miles at all apart from a maybe 2 mile blast everyday.I do also add millers ecomax every tankful whether that makes any difference I don't know but my egr valve stays clean never had to clean it in the time I have owned the car but check it every year.
