What is the difference in 1.5 DCi Engines

Postby montfish » Sat Jan 23, 2010 4:32 pm

Apologies if this is in the wrong section.

I have searched for the answer to this question, but have been unable to find out the information i needed.

I have a 1.5 DCi Megane, the 80 bhp version, and i was wondering, what is the difference between this and the 100 and 106 (i think) engines respectively???

Thanks for the replies

100HP and 106HP have different turbo: multi-vane variable nozzle turbocharger. Only 106HP comes with Renault/Nissan 6-speed gearbox. The difference between 100HP and 106HP is in the injection system: 106 has six-hole piezo-electric injectors and 100HP has solenoid injectors. Injection pressure is the same though. Another difference might be that 106 version has more reliable injection pump than earlier versions.

I have a 1.5dci 80 bhp and a 1.9dci 100bhp, theres only 10mph difference in top speed but obviously the extra 20 bhp helps alot more with acceleration

I didn't believe the turbo was bigger...i thought it was due to no intercooler on a 80bhp...Intercooler on 100bhp and intercooler and increase in map for 106bhp (6 speed included)

It's the 60-odd bhp variant in the older clio which hasn't got an intercooler.

Correct. !.5dCi unit with 65/70HP has no intercooler. It is used in Dacia, too.

By the way,I saw your signature, and my fuel( i dont know how to say it, i hope you will understand it) is 9.1/100 in town for a tank.
Is it ok?

I dont drive like a maniac, but i also like sometimes to be the first in green light.
Usually i drive normally. Between citys it shows 5.7 crusing 100 km/h and 6-7.5 crusing 115-120.
When i bought this car i thought it would be economic as i read: 1:22 in town lol.
