Given these are 18s:

viewtopic.php?f=13&t=10217

i think theirs def 2 inch gap on each side of the wheel.

does anyone know if 22s would rub under full lock? or is this the biggest size that dont rub?

it depends on the width of the ally, like you can get 19's that are 7.5" wide then again you can also get 19's that are 9" wide

depends on the alloy

I WAS F'IN with you guys!! lol

19 but then you couldnt get anyone in othersie there will be some scrapage - UNLESS you install some serious springs and shocks....either way the ride will be shite!!

ive got 18's on mine 225 40 18 tyres and they are fine.
17" are a better ride all round...

boith the 18" and 17" will require some lowering to gt you that nice look!

Can't say what the absolute maximum is, but a 225/35R19 tyre on an 8½x19" wheel (38mm offset) I can guarantee to fit, based on my own experience.

Just found the ultimate tyre size comparer site!
Here's a comparison of the Megane original tyre/wheel size vs. the 19" setup I have:
205/50R17 + 7x17" offset 49 vs. 225/35R19 + 8½x19" offset 38

I hope that site finally helps people to understand the "holy union" between tyre width, tyre profile, wheel diameter and wheel offset....

Theres a few megs with 20's on, ther eall sports tho so you may struggle finding them for a standard one, the ride quality would be terrible to, you'd feel every little tiny bump in the road.

I replaced my origanal 17's for 18,s and then went a brought a set of 20 inc 100+ Jets in black.

They were 225 / 35 / 20 rubber with a 7.5 X 20 wheel

The car was lowered 40mm on springs

They went on but caught the front arches when turning corners, it became a pain and i wish i had got 19,s but hay ho, I am now in the process of getting the wide arch kit fitted and the arch will be cut away and then it will be lowered again by 30mm, I had to fit the standered springs back on for the last MOT

yeah i minded that later one :-(
but you could grind a bit off them or mould them around it easy done just need a respray on the wings after though

Cut them away and fit the wide arch kit is the only way forward

What arch linings??

The 20,s are not a problem at the rear its when you turn a corner where the tyre is directly under the front arch, hit a bump and it bounces up and hits the plastic arch, as for the arch linings, they have been worn away by the tyres.

I wouldent recomend 20,s on a megane unles ur prepared to a little arch work, stick with 19,s its less hassel, "I KNOW"

and it would fail mot's over here as the wheels protrude out of the arches.

There was a few that had 20's on that didnt look so daft, black 225 from abroad and a silver one with audi looking wheels on, cant find the pictures now tho.
