I realise this is off topic (great thread by the way), but 'back in the day' I did a similar thing to an electric guitar, but used newspaper clippings/headlines. From memory I coated it with clear floor varnish... It's a shame I realised punk rock was c**p! These days I prefer to play classical piano (play rather than listen) - get me my pipe and slippers...
