I wanted this done, just didn't like the idea of the warning light (Would do me head in)

You can either have them just remove it off the ecu so no warning light will come on. However you wont notice any gains and in the long run will probably nack ur car up. Or you can actually have the DPF physically removed and taken off the ecu so no warning light will come on and sorts the problem out permanently

Thanks, Who removed it off the ecu for you? I know even K-tec say they are still waiting for an ecu upgrade to stop the error.

Cheers

The same garage who removed the DPF removed it off the ECU but i reckon anyone who knows how to remap it would know out to remove it from the ecu

Got a look at my DPF removal today. Looks like he just hollowed it outand sealed it up instead of using a delete pipe. Probably why it was so cheap. Doesnt look pretty but its beef effective.

No harm to you lad, but thats a mess.

Wouldn't wreckon that will last long.

I would have requested a bit of pipe work instead.

What engine did you say you had? looks like only the 85 and 105 bhp dont have the fap. Dont know if this is correct tho as the 120bhp is missing

just thought id share my experiance, i had the fap removed on my scenic dci 130 the guy doing it used a delete pipe cost me £200
he wanted to know how much differance it made to performance so it was put on a dyno before and after before removal it was producing 128bhp over 3 power runs after it was 137bhp 3 runs thats 9bhp just for removing the fap we where shocked to say the least have also had a moderate remap it is now 155bhp (EDIT have since had it re mapped again to 170bhp these DCI engines are great) and now drives buytifly in all gears the economy has improved as well if i drive it nicely it will give me 55mpg if i use the power that figure plumits :-)

I wanna get a delete pine for mine as dont like the look of a hollowed out dpf. The cheapest i can find one for is £150 so dont really think its worth the money for just a pipe

It is worth it they are usually stainless steel hence £150 price tag, you will never have to replace it. seeing the pics you posted I would be very worried about the quality of the work done, I would look out for diesel in the exhaust (you mentioned this in a post on fule consumbtion) as there is a diesel burner built into the FAP (probably damaged when he hollowed out the fap) and if they did not remove and cap the fuel line to it then there will be diesel leaking into the exhaust, this can collect in the fap shell and in the right conditions (ragging it down the motorway at high speeds ) the diesel build-up can ignite (not good), if they cut corners on the fap physical removal did they do a good job of the ecu or did they just disable the error strings related to the fap, this leaves the system constantly trying to re generate burning fuel for no reason. you should really get this checked, if not done correctly it can damage the engine. I paid a total of £450 for the fap delete and tune up money well spent but I hung over the tech's shoulder to make sure he did the software delete properly, he was quite happy to explain what he was doing and he also told me about some of the bodge jobs he has corrected. if it seems to cheap it is to cheap you should expect to pay around £500 for a good job.

gosport_cavalier that was most helpful, thank you. The guy came to look at the remap and theres nowt wrong with that so im guessing something went wrong with the dpf removal. Im gonna take it into the garage who done it tomorrow morning. Hopefully they will be able to sort it out. I dont see what else can be causing it can be. Thank you very much. Ill let you know how it goes
