Re: HID
15,000k?! how'd you drive at night? 15k would be just blue/purple with nearly no usable/visible light!
6000k bulbs are the whitest i think, with 8000k having white and some blue tint.

Re: HID
Well mine are like a blue/white colour.. looking at the car when the lights are on they look Aqua coloured. Theyre really bright.
I'll upload a pic if you want a look at the colour of them.
When the HID's are fitted the colours are completly diffrent to what these pictures show.
The ones in my meg look exactly like the ones in the 6000k picture.
Oh and as for the Mot failure due to no headlamp washers etc, this only comes into play with factory fitted Hid's. not aftermarket kits, as far as i know.
6000k is the whitest light, as this is the ones that cars get fitted from factory. I chose 15000k as i didnt want white, i wanted a tinge of blue in them. Theyre really nice, and make the road in front of you look like its daylight, as for road signs, they can be seen a mile off.
Ok so here's the pics, theres a 15000k Hids in a 2008 megane with the new style headlamps.
If your planning a conversion, go for 15000k, theyre nothing like those colour charts say.

Re: HID
Ive had the car since the showroom and the kit was fitted a day after i got the car, thats coming up to 2 years now and ive been pulled over in the past, and no-one has ever said anything about the lights.
There's lots of horror stories about these kits, About blinding other drivers, dazzling etc. Same again many a police car has passed me and ive never had any problems.
Ive read a few of your posts etc, and you clearly have more experience with these things than myself. so I think you may be right about the mot.
Tbh Im not in any position to argue the point as I know nothing about the rules with these things.
I guess your one who's not in favour of these kits...?
Btw ive just realised my kit is 12000k not 15. sorry guys.

Re: HID
How do the aftermarket kits differ from factory fitted ones? Other than washers, lenses etc..
Other than that whats the diffrence? Obv diffrent K's produce diffrence colours etc, but if someone was to fit 6000k? which is the same as factory fitted ones?
Looking at a car with factory 6000k and one with aftermarket 6000k? Would there rreally be a diffrence?

Re: HID
they don't differ really. same technology. but OEM ones are fully tested by TUV and other regulatory bodies for the road. aftermarket ones prolly not so much. internal component quality as well. not to mention an OEM option gives you auto levelling to stop you blinding people and washers.
Re: HID
for the record folks, ive got projector headlamps, which dont blind other drivers when HID's are fitted.

The light units are fitted with auto balancing motors, controlled by sensors on the subframe.
It means the lights are always at the optimal angel.
Ie when you go over a bump the light angel doesn't increase and blind those comming towards you.
The lume output of an HID bulb compaired that of a filiment is at least X^4. For this reason an 'light cut off point' needs to be constantly maintained.
