Renaultsport Alloys on a 1.6

Postby davidevo » Sun May 03, 2009 5:27 pm

Gentlemen, I’ve read though sooo many different posts on many different websites about this that I am going utterly nutters, so I thought it may be worth trying to find out for sure…

First of all, I should probably introduce myself – name’s David, and I’m looking at purchasing a 1.6 to go to Uni in (mum likes the 5* NCAP rating) and, as big bro’s had one, I know what they’re like to drive/live with, and frankly, I reckon it’d be a fab car to live with day to day.

However, alloy wheels – blimey!

From what I understand, the super tasty ones from a 225 will not fit on a 1.6 (5 stud vs. 4)

But, it possible to get a hub adapter, and would anyone know roughly what cost we’d be talking?

Also, I think I read somewhere (maybe here) that you can fit Clio 182 alloys, is this true? Anyone have any piccys of it done?

Sorry if this has been done to death, but, any input would be much appreciated

David

Please use search, but yes a convertor is possible, you will get one through Google, make sure the offset is 100mm. I would say somewhere in the region of £100.It will affect steering and handling i would say. The 182 alloys will fit a meggy.

Another option is a breaker and get the hubs from a 255 etc.

i'm sure the adaptors were nearer £300 iirc, there's a guy on meganesport with a black dci with some on that were made by a firm in germany. i think the 172/182 clio wheels fit but they're 16s(?) so don't look as meaty as the megane ones, theres an estate on here with some on i think.

if you change the hubs your going to need brakes and i'm guessing master cylinder as well, so that will work out just as dear.

Dont think you could just swap the hubs either, as the wheels would stick out the arches(illegal) or sit very deep in them, not to sure but the sport alloys have a diff offset to the std ones.

This has been done....

The Hubs are 320 for 4....and the offset on the sport wheels are just within the arches with this add on.

I think that putting those wheels on your megy is verry expensive dance... I would rather buy some nice 18' with 4 stud and avoid the complications :hm
