1.9DCI 120 bmc fitting

Postby anth_dci » Wed Oct 08, 2008 12:30 pm

Im looking at fitting a BMC to the dci. Probably the cda85-150. Ive never worked on a diesel or turbo'ed car before so does the filter connect to the turbo or to the throttle body? Either way what size is the outlet so i know what size hosing to get. Going to start pulling bits off tonight to have a look at the best setup just wondering what other peoples experiences are?

sorry if this has been answered before i couldnt find anything in the search

do they make a CDA kit for the megane now?
i looked a few years ago but there wasn't one. i got a BMC panel filter instead.

doesn't look like there's much room to fit a CDA in the 1.9 engine bay.

they make 2 type of cda the cda70-130 (for 1.6 or smaller) and cda 85-150 (for 1.6 or bigger) ive not really had a decent look at what space is available hopefully will get a change in the next couple of days. I had a CDA 85-150 on my 306GTi6 and it made a massive difference. but if there is no space ill go for the replacement panel filter.

right had it all apart and your right it is very tight behind there. I think the best way to go will be a viper as they are smaller and should fit in that gap nicely and use the original piping, my filter was pretty dirty so im going to need to do something with it very soon. Ill be connecting it to the air flow meter which is 70mm.

the viper i had on my sri was massive like a mixing bowl!! lol i wouldn't have thought one would fit in the engine bay tbh unless they do smaller ones, i personally would go with the panel filter as in a tight space you'll prob get heat transfer through the induction kit and end up loosing power tbh thats what the golf lads found on my last owners club alot of work for less power price of a viper would get you a remap nearly extra 30bhp!!

its gone but not forgotten lol, but the A3 has more than filled the gap on the drive woo hoo i love it

not really, but i only paid £30 for it so after 3 services it will have paid for itself. I can definitely hear the turbo more now though.

you should only need to take the lid off the filter box mate not the box out normally just clips or couple of screws i think
