Re: 1.4 megane
You remaped a standard 1.4... no harm to you but that was a waste if money... what did u get? 2 - 6 BHP at most and sucking up the fule?!?
Taking out the spare wheel and tool kit would have nearly done the same job!

Put a different engine in it.
Seriously though there aint alot mod wise you can do to get any decent gains out of the 1.4 engine, de-cat or sports cat (standard cat is biggest hindrance in getting big bhp gains, but you need a cat for mot's and its very loud without one) stainless/high flow header, new exhaust and a sports filter(itg or similar) and a remap is about your lot, you could look into custom cams, as i say they would be custom as no one makes them for a meg so if you gave piper cams a call im sure they could sort something although it could be major work, and a bit undrivable round town, and they'd prob cost a fair bit. You could lighten your car, ie strip everybit of unneeded weight out of it, things like carpets, rear seats, parcels shelfs, roof linings, spare wheel, interior trims etc, that'd make it abit faster, again abit unusable as an everyday car. you could also look into lightened and balanced flywheels etc, you could go on but as i say no off the shelf parts would all be custom so would cost big £ and as you can buy a 225 for about 6k now would be cheaper to just buy one. and stump up the silly insurance bill.

You dont have to, but it will look like its on stilts if you dont, it looks and handles so much better when its got lowered springs on. -45mm spax springs are about £100 and are fine with 18's one bit of advice dont buy them from TopGear as they are the slackest company ive every dealt with, its like they dont even want your money, bunch of a***holes.

If you do all that work and then put 18s on her kinda undoes it.

Do you know what you are talking about?
18's with 225 40's on have the same rolling radius as the standard 16s, doesnt effect your speedo, doesnt slow you down, will speed you up if anything as you will be loosing a good bit of weight from each corner.

Re: 1.4 megane
thanks for replys on wheels and springs,as i said im keepn car,and i know bigr engine wud cure but i was askn bout makn 1.4 betr.it costs 10 pound a mth to insure, compared to vectra 2.5 i had which was 32 pound.it looks great in white, very rare here, will hav to let u c when its all done.tanks again for all comments

Re: 1.4 megane
18 225 40 are EXACTLY the same rolling radius as the standard 16" alloys and tyres that come factory fitted from renault, no change in speedo or anything, if your running 17's with 40 profiles that will have a smaller radius and therefore change your speedo rating somewhat.
