Buying a 225 bumper for my Dynamique

Postby mark_b » Sun May 04, 2008 7:48 pm

hi people i was thinking about buying a 225 bumper from renault for my dynamique. What i was wondering do you get everything with it to fit onto the car or is there other parts you have to buy???

O and another thing would anyone know roughly the price of one of these from renault as i dont want an after market bumper as people have supposedly had problems with them being fitted.

I know theres plenty of other threads on this type of topic but it doesnt particularly answer my questions :D

Cheers

This is for the pre-facelift Phase 1 Megane II (2002-2006).

Renault part no. 77 01 475 349 gets you:
- 1x 225 front bumper
- 2x upper 225 grilles
- 1x lower 225 grille
- 1x plastic undertray extension
- 1x tow hook hole cover

In addition to that, you'll need:
- the plastic 'rivets' that hold the top of the bumper to the body. Renault part no. 77 03 072 360 / one rivet. Or you can use your existing ones if you manage to remove them intact.

And (I might be wrong here) you probably also need extension panels for the wheel arch plastic inner liners as the lower corners of the 225 bumper reach wider out than those of the Dynamique bumper. Couldn't find the extensions on my parts program, though......

Absolutely no idea about the prices for the above, sorry.

bumpers are about £400 from renault inc all the parts you need, something that wasnt mentioned previously was there are two triangle arch pieces which connect the std arches to the 225 bumper, only cost about £15 quid or so.
and all the fixings from your standard bumper can be used to fit the 225 bumper.
so bear minimum parts you'l need are,
225 bumper
2Xupper grills - lower grill
headlight washers - unless you get them smoothed off, but you can just attach them so they dont work, so you dont have to buy all pipework, pumps etc.
arch fillets
and if you have fogs in your std bumper they are the same as the 225 ones.

if i were you id check ebay, salvage yards, and partsgateway.co.uk

front and backs pop up on ebay every now and then for cheap. like £100 notes all in. one thing to think about tho is renault will not sell the undertray seperatly. although i havent got one on mine and it hasnt caused any problems.
if you go for one on ebay check it has the grill cos these are expensive from the dealers, about £70 for the two. about the same for the big lower one.

you can get the two metal "renault sport" side badges from reanualt for about £15 quid each two, the ones on your bump strips, dead easy to change.

any questions just drop us a pm, i fitted mine, took about an hour to get old one off and new one on.

Stevie off this site is selling an intact 225 replica bumper, think it will have all bits to convert yours, looks smart.

as for the back the 225 exhaust will go on the dynamics with abit of welding cheap to do, agains theres a rear bumper on ebay, and i might be selling my exhaust soon. thinking about getting a custom one this weekend.

the rear bumper that was on ebay was off the facelift model and its now gone

i asked stevie do they look genuine and how goods the fit on them as i dont want something that looks cheap and out of place, basically not the real thing

post on this m8 if your selling the exhaust.
