Re: Tints
Here's mine on a 35 tint. It looks darker on the pic than in real life.
I think it's a Johnson Window film was used. Either the Ray Gard or the Sillouette series of film.
It's best to go down to the guys that's gonna tint it really as they'll be able to overlay the tint on your window to give you a clearer decision. Bear in mind that while I have a 35 tint, it will vary between the film series and manufacturer of tint with about a 10% variable of visible light transmission.
Personally, I think next time I'll get a 50 or 55 tint. On my previous car i had 20 on the side windows and 5 on the back... and if you live in a rural area or somewhere where there's no street lights.. you don't want something that dark.

Actually law is:
According to the Vehicle Inspectorate, the legal limits for visibility are 75% light through the windscreen and 70% on the front side windows (which is roughly what manufacturer glass comes in as standard).
rear glass can be as dark as you like.
Iceman: you got your wording mixed up. Numbering of tint is based upon the amount of visible light transmitted. a 35% tint allows 35% visible light transmitted thru the glass and film.
So your fronts are actually a 65 tint, rear = 50, back = 05 ("limo")

Re: Tints
it's not that popular over here or it's more popular with the saxo/corsa modding scene.
Most reflectives I've seen are a fade-in type... so the top is standard black tint and fades into the bottom half which is usually a silver/green/blue reflective.
Otherwise it's usually a mirror finish as seen on vans.

Re: Tints
Anyone have any links to pics with GREEN tints??? Both Foliatec and Sllumar do green films, but I haven't found any decent "real-life" pictures of cars fitted with those.
I'm after a tinted "OEM" look which I think the different shades of grey don't make possible. With grey tints the car always looks, well.... tinted! In most cases the grey tints do look awesome, but still everyone knows it's been tinted afterwards. Whereas with green tints the effect might (hopefully) just be: there's something cool about that car but can't figure out what it is!

Re: Tints
legal limit on the front is 75% which is as ur comes from the factory cuz when police took my 35% off my puma they said it now measured at 75% which is legal.
i just got mine dun on sat 10% at the back on 40% on the front and 6" sun strip. I usually have 5% of the back but when its night u cant see out ov it much other than street lights so no reversing in the dark lol.

Just shiny, also really helps keeping the sun out (Australia).
Looking at it after the car has been washed on a clear day, you can't see inside, all you see is your reflection

Haven't gotten into trouble with the cops yet and it's been 3 years. Been pulled over for speeding and they didn't say anything.

Re: Tints
Hey all,
I had tints already on my meg when I bought her. They look nearly exactly like the ones you have above. My mot came up 2 weeks ago and the MOT mechanic failed the car on the front tints. He said that the light passing through was only 25% and the legal limit was 60% which I thought was a joke so after pulling the tints of and leaving loads of glue stuck to the window shes ready to go through again, somehow I think he was talking rubbish!

Re: Tints
eh?!
Firstly, it's 75%. if the mot guy was gonna check for visible light transmission, he should know the numbers.
secondly.. they don't check for for light transmission on front side windows??

To get the glue off, use turps and a stainless steel blade... make sure it's stainless!
