The position of the lamps are different in the Phase II
e.g. tail lights used to be on the inside angle, but are now along the bottom of the cluster

i managed to remove the wires from the cradles with the use of a small flat-head screw-driver. Just pull of the top/seal and you should see the pin holders on both side, just move the pins outwards in pairs and bingo, the wire is released. I connected the wires to the new lamps as previously suggested (taping each pin in turn to prevent shorting) and then taped it all up for a good seal.
I did notice that only one fog light works, need to think about this one - may need an additional wire extended from the O/S to the N/S.

sorry im posting this ages after everyone stopped talking about it, but ive just bought some face lift rear lights. and to be honest, im baffeled at all the talk about wiring them in, i could do it myself, but would need a bit more detail maybe even some pics of the lights when they are wired in. can anybody help me?
At the moment, I'me working on them myself!
Yesterday I've worked out the right unit and did all the necessary wiring, took me the good part of the day to get all the necessary parts/wiring, figure out a plan and finally do all the wiring and testing. I do not want to rush things. The right unit is working perfectly now, I hope to tackle the left unit this weekend. This is a little more complex as you have one additional light over there (fog). But I'me confident that this will also succeed as I now have an idea how to do it and all the necessary parts.
