CD CHANGER WIRE

Postby nickbell69 » Sun Feb 08, 2009 2:12 pm

Removed Cd changer in mine and there are 2 connectors on it. Main 1 with all usual wires and on 2nd connector a single blue wire that goes up into dash area i think.
Anyone know what it's for and where it goes to?

Cheers Nick.

It's for the illumination of the buttons on the changer!

In my car it's part of the wiringloom to the radio, it comes out of it halfway.

That single blue wire tells the cd changer to light up when your headlights are on.

It goes into the loom for the radio display in the center of the dash.

I found this out when retro fitting a renault cd changer to my megane.

Took it out of one megane to put into mine couldn't see where this wire went so just cut it off.

Then wired it all up in my megane except for the blue wire, all worked ok but didn't light up with the dash lights.

I've got a haynes manual for the car and had a look at the wiring diagrams in the back worked out that it went into the radio display.

wired it up to the right one and now it lights up with the rest of the dash

My radio has this "blue wire" however the indash changer (which fits under the radio) has a second 3pin connector for its button illumination. From the forum I was expecting to find a single connection which I could hook up to the blue wire on back of radio. Since the changer is working fine without the illumination I will probably leave as is.
