i swapped the standard speakers of my meg over for the custom pioneer TS-Q131C ones.

I'd heard people talking about the origional "paper speakers" but mine weren't paper but made of much the same stuff as the new pioneer ones. Is this normal? The name on the back is "Solaital".

I went for the Cabasse 4x40w upgrade so have my speakers been upgraded as well?

One thing, there was a few drops of water over the speakers. My pal said it should be ok as they are waterproof. I've not touched the rain gard or anything else in the door so i assume this is normal? You can make out the drops of water on the pics of the original speakers.

Anyway the install was successfull as there is a vast improvement on sound quality with the pioneers. Less muddy bass and alot clearer midrange and top. Just need to install a sub now. :)

I replaced one of my front bass units just with an original unit from Renault as mine had blown and it was like for like and the cones did seem rather like paper/card. I can't recall what the wording was on the back, but "Solaital" doesn't ring a bell. I reckon you may have uprated units due to your cabasse stereo.

I too was concerned about some drops of water on the back of the old driver but there wasn't any obvious wetting of the cone.

I held off upgrading them to the pioneer ones for now and got my sub installed instead. Looking to improve the top end

standard radio is 4 x 15 watts. so if you cabbasse unit is the 4 x 40 watts i would think the speakers would be upgraded also as thats a fair bit of power from the cabbasse unit.

Im doing a speaker upgrade on mine if it ever stops raining, so ill look at my standard speakers and see how they compair as i have the standard radio.

Nice job by the way, looks simple enough to do...........................

I'm looking at getting these to upgrade my standard speakers.

Just a quick question or two;

Do the pioneer speakers use the standard wiring plug, on the cars wiring loom or do you need to cut the connector off to fit them?? :conf

The front speakers use the Renault connector. For the rears, there is no specific Renault speaker, so you can buy an adaptor or just crimp on a connector.

Eh? Mine only cost me £60 + p&p from lowcostcaraudio

Odd, the site seems to have dissapeared. You can get them for about £65 else where.

Hello, new to the megane world,

I've just got my megane about a month ago and thought the speakers were crap.

I changed the front two about 5 mins ago and it took ten mins, the tweeters included.
I bought them from caraudiodirect.com for £75 delivered and i only bought them yesterday.

Does anybody know how long i should "wear" them in for before turning it up; don't want to blow them.
Still using the standard Tuner List HU, anybody know where i can get hold of a Cabasse unit? I like the OEM look of cars.

Cheers guys, this forum is awesome.

I'm sure the cabasse system is 2 pieces
the head unit takes the cd's but the radio and amp section is in the boot
could be an expensive do

Isn't the cabasse system in the laguna just the HU?
My dad had one a few years back and it was a great system.

Would this fit? or will it need a facsia panel?
Failing all that i might think of upgrading to a Double Din unit.

Off subject again, the Pioneer speakers for the rear doors; are they "bassy" the front ones are a little to small to handle any bass so having a 3 door i was wondering if i could put someting a little bigger in the back, i'm assuming the water ingress is less of a problem in the rear and the depth is a little bigger.

Thanks

the new Cabasse HU is a normal all in one unit. I think the old ones with the seperate HU controls and amp did not say updatelist on the front.

this is mine, an all in one HU and seperate 6 disk changer. (from 2008)

Only 13 cm in the back as well. I've got the Pioneer TS-E1396 with the TS-Q131C in the front and personally they do the job for me perfectly well.

But of course you could go for a subwoofer instead of rear speakers.

Ahh i see.

Well i've got an 04 megane which is the tunerlist so the update list wont work.
I've been looking at this:

https://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/produc ... /8301.html

Get a couple of adapters for the screen and stalk and it should look alright

As for the rears, do the TS-E1396's provide much bass?
The front ones have made a huge improvement mid and highs though.

Maybe with the upgraded HU and the TS-E1396's the sound quality will do;
I'll change the rears in a few weeks then the HU after; if i'm not happy i'll add a sub. :-)
