Alpine head unit
I am buying a 2003 Megane II in a few days and I want to swap the stereo for my Alpine IDA-X001. Ive heard you need a adaptor, I found this https://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/produc ... d/468.html will this work? Do I need a facia because ive seen this https://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/produc ... /3468.html Under my stereo is a 6 cd changer will this work with my headunit? Will the steering rmote work?

Re: Alpine head unit
yes, you will need the adapter and fascia.
the 6-cd changer won't work sadly. (at least not that i know of. this may have changed recently)

Re: Alpine head unit
yes the you can get a coin tray, i have one in mine, either get one from renault or somewhere like ebay or a scrap yard.
if you want your steering wheel controlls to work with a aftermarket head unit look at this link viewtopic.php?f=12&t=8910
but why change the radio if you have the 6 cd?? its the cabasse unit and quite powerfull 4x30 watts! just up grade the speakers!!!! alpine head unit is gud but you may end up having to upgrade the speakers to get the most out of it! plus keeping the standard radio you keep the display working also and theifs away!
if your changing the radio to add a amp and sub, you can still do this with the standard radio by buying a Speaker to RCA converter.
if this is ur plan, keep standard head unit and spend the money else where as the box to get the steering wheel controlls to work range from £40 to over £100 dependant on the year of your car and where you buy it from etc etc etc.....................

I thought about keeping the radio but I have a ipod ready HU, it has a cool display and looks good. Theifs arn't a problem for me, I live in Jersey, not as bad as the UK. I did see this adaptor but im not sure if it works. Do I need a special facia or will the one that comes with the HU do?
