Megane Saloon Sport 2006 6x9 help.

Postby Paddy » Tue Aug 26, 2008 5:36 pm

Just got my 2006 Saloon Sport dynamique '8143 miles!!!!' and I would like to fit a pair of 6x9s in her, but as you will know there is this really 'useful' compartment on the parcel shelf. Would the 6x9's fit where the rear speakers are? with a bit of DIY. Has anyone fitted a pair to this car that could give me a bit of advice.... I also have just purchased the pioneer front and rear set that you all talk so highly of plus all round HID 8000K lights... Going to be a busy day this Saturday.

All help is appreciated.

Congratulations  Any specs on the engine?

No, there's simply not enough room! You will need to fit these in parcel shelf or make a new parcel shelf

You probably mean the TS-Q131C and TS-E1396? Great choice of speakers!

The TS-Q131C are plug and play, for the rear speakers there is an installation guide with pics on the forum available that will guide you through the process

2.0 16V dynamique, just over 8000 mile, and those nice 17' wheels. You won’t believe me but i picked her up for £3,950.

Left a few pounds for the extras .. sound, HIDs, ... would the 225 front bumper fit? Any other kits for this car? Someone must have got 6x9s in somehow. Is there any aftermarket Stealth Shelf for this Meg?

ooo and what about springs 45mm I would have thought.

Thanks for the help

I love the 2.0 engine, especially with the automatic gearbox on mine 8-)

Sure, the 225 front bumper wil fit. Obviously, you will need the 2006 (Phase 2) model. Will make a lot of difference 8)

Do a search on the forum about those springs, there should be plenty info on it. ;-)

Everybody his own choice :D

I find it very relaxing that a machine does something stupid like shifting gears for me :D

You could fit 6x9 speakers on the back shelf with a little DIY like you said. You can make a new parcel shelf that could be fitted in the gap of the parcel shelf. Of course you must cut the the bottom of the gap but that would be fairly easy as it's just a bit of hard plastic...there a "little" drawback however...the speaker will be pretty close to each other, and they will sound really "mono", not to mention that all your sound will primarily come from the back of the car...but if you're not an SQ enthusiast and just want it to sound loud, then I guess it's OK. :p
You can fit -30mm springs, more than that with the stock dampers is not recommended. I have a set of Eibachs -30mm on mine, and I must say, I feel the need for some performance dampers. That's why I opted for some coil overs from KW that are fully adjustable, and I can lower it as much as -70mm...of course I don't...
The 8000k HID lights will be pretty annoying I presume, as they are really blue...I have HID lights from factory that are 4300K, and aftermarket 6000k on high beam, and it bothers me a little of how blue they are when driving on dark lonely roads...
The RS bumper will fit with no problem. I have one, but it's not fitted until the back bumper is finished. ;)
