Re: Head Unit Advice
if you want to keep ur stalk controls and ur display ull need harness adapters which can be pricey
Halfords sell the lead you need for stalks for about £30 (can get it else where for cheaper) with that you also need a lead which goes from the stalk lead to the new CD player which you need to get, you can get it for £5 at halfords please note this second lead needs to match the brand of the CD player. if you want to keep ur Display then you need another lead otherwise the cd player will work but ur display will not display anything to do with the radio, this lead again from halfords is about £13.99
so before u start it can cost about 50 quid (can get it much cheaper btw)
as for the headunit its a personal thing
o and for the cd changer you need to check the bus lead (aka the lead that goes to the head unit) to check the connector as most CD changers are brand for brand
hope this helps
i can get exact prices and part numbers tomorrow if you want them
(the supplier of these parts is AutoLeads)

Thanks mate that's a great help! Am I likely to be able to retain the changer? I suppose this is bottom of the list for the things I want as my iPhone can plug into headunit

Re: Head Unit Advice
likely not but when you take out ur orginal head unit take a picture of the connection and ill match it with different brands and see what comes up as some units might use the same connection

Re: Head Unit Advice
The standard head unit uses a VDO protocol (digital, S/PDIF audio) to talk to any changer.

Re: Head Unit Advice
8 months on and i finally could be bothered to buy a headunit!!! Ive got everything sorted, opted for a JVC KD-BT11 as it was cheap and offered everything i needed.
I have everything installed all works fine, bluetooth is ok except its only got an internal mic. Got stalk working, only problem i have is getting the dash to look ok, ive took out the 6 disc changer and bought this
When coming to fit it, it doesn't quite go in properly, so at the mo im just using the tray from it. What do i need to cover both the din slots?? Im guessing something like FP-08-01 from here
Thanks in advance

Re: Head Unit Advice
Hi Mate,
I have one of those for sale, and the proper tray (renault spare) that fits where you removed the 6 disc changer from. I have just replaced a single din unit with a double din unit so don't need anymore.
PM me if interested, can send you photos of both items if you want.
