Pioneer DEH-P6900IB "iPod ready"

Postby renier » Sat Apr 14, 2007 7:50 pm

I bought myself a new toy, a brand new Pioneer DEH-P6900IB, which has direct ipod control. The ipod control of the P6900 is very similar to the ipod's own control. All information is displayed on the radio's display. Very nice! 8)

Installation was not a lot of work. Only problem I now have is that I can only turn on the radio when you first push the start button of the car to be in accessory mode (switched 12v signal on) (do I say it right in English?).

Is this normal for pioneer radio's? :?: :?:

The tunerlist radio could be turned on always, independent of the start button (it did switch off automattically to save the battery of the car after 30 min).

That is really nice, was looking at some of the alpines but this now has my interest. Which version of the megane do you have? I want one that works with the tunerlist setup.

I've got a Megane 5 doors hatch, dynamique comfort from 2003. I've replaced the Tunerlist with the Pioneer. so you can do the same! :D

It realy makes a hugh difference in sound quality, especially now that I've also put in my new Pioneer speakers (TS-Q131C and TS-E1396).

ipod control with this unit could not be made more easier :D :D

Yes, it's the existing steering wheel controls and display from the Tunerlist radio that you use with the Pioneer adapter. Works really great, and installing it is very simple, just plug it in and off you go... 8)

I'me glad I finally made the discission to get rid of the Tunerlist radio, this sounds so much better! And I still have the relaxed steering wheel controls :)

I always loved the clean look of the Renault radio's (Twingo, Clio II, Megane II), but sound quality is much more important now for me, and this unit looks very nice indeed with the blue display. 8)

Seems I did catch a bit of that virus, now that I've also replaced my standard 16" Nervastella wheels with the 17" Steppe and replaced the front grilles with the RS grilles

Today I heard a slight buzzing noise over the speakers when the radio is paused or when there is a silence in a song.
It's probably also there when the radio is playing, but then I cannot hear it through the music.
The buzzing gets louder when you turn up the volume or increase the bass or loudness.

Perhaps the antenna is causing interference, although I did never have similar problems with the Renault radio (complete and utter silence when paused). I had to use an antenna adapter as the Pioneer has a different antenna connection.
I'll have to investigate by disconnecting the antenna and testing again.

Seems i'me not the only one with this problem. Perhaps when you change the Renault radio with a more powerfull unit, it's also more sensitive to interference:

It does it even when the engine is off.

Just tested and it's not the antenna, iPod or tel mute cable.

Do you mean the steering wheel control's adapter? I've also excluded that one!

It's a very light buzzing sound, just like the noise on the radio when you haven't tuned to a station.

But if it's normal for this radio ("product property" as my dealer would call it...) then i can live with it, ít can only be heared when the sound is muted.

if itis installed correctly then you should have no noise AT ALL!!!

like you said its probably picking up interferance from something....you can do 2 things

1 - unplud every thins and start from scratch (or thell your installer to do it)

2 - buy sound suppressers from an audio shop and add them to your loom.

but if your happy with the noise to remain, then thre is your option 3

I tried option 1 already, no difference :(

Just received an e-mail back from the supplier. They have no experience for the interference as well. Asked me if I used an external amp. No, just connected the radio straight to the Renault ISO connectors. They told me to contact a service company, which can test it. But first I want a garantee that this will not cost me anything.
