Fitting new Head Unit in 04 1.5Dci 5 Door

Postby Jasper » Wed Feb 14, 2007 1:42 pm

I have just bought a Sony CDX-GT300S Head unit and Facia Adaptor FP 08 01 from the car audio centre.

Can anybody let me know if there are any problems when disconnecting the battery when fitting the unit. When i reconnect will there be any lights etc on the dash that will need to be reset.

Or do you even need to disconnect the battery ????

Also i have read several threads re the use of the original steering wheel controls, i have found leads from low cost audiop ( pc99 son / pc99 x 12) that are supposed to work while maintaining the dash display.

How do you remove the dash display to fit the leads?????

All this is to be fitted in a Megane 1.5 Dci 5 door 04

Many Thanks for any help

You don't remove the dash display, the lead is behind your existing headunit, the adaptor will just plug into that and then into your new headunit.

It's not nessesary but is probably best to disconnect the battery (well the negative anyway).

The only problem i have found when disconnecting the battery is with the windows not coming all the way down with one press. To fix this you reset them by putting the window all the way down (by pressing a couple of times) and hold down for 15 seconds or so, then up and hold up the same. Easy!!
Not really a problem tis just what happens.

Thanks Chris

ICEMAN the adaptors you are referring to are for what? is it the steering controls, if so what are cambus adaptors and where do you get them from.

Head unit turned up this morning, will fit it later

Cheers Chris,

Just tried to fit sony cdx gt300, all iso plugs ok and stereo works fine. Sent wrong facia, so have to wait a few days and refit it, good job the stereo code was in the handbook.

Noticed that the there was a small yellow iso plug for the stalk so i will ring the place tomorrow and get a price, post it back here tomorrow.

Also looking to fit the pioneer TS or TQ speakers recommended by a few people on the site, cheapest i have seen them is £65 anybody seen them cheaper??

Spent 2 hours on the phone and seem to get a different answer from everbody

the connects 2 CTDRNS003 seems to work out at £45

The InCarTech from the link above is £42.50 to the door but deos not retain the dash display id tags etc just volume up / down

Low cost car audio PC99 X12 ETC £32.48 but both times i have spoken to them i got different answers to what it will display

Can anybody else shed some light on what is the best route, i have seen some threads that say the connects 2 is the best.

Is anybody using a sony headunit with the dash display showing all tags / names etc and if so what is it

Have finally got the right stalkm adaptor lead after 3 goes. The one that works is the pc9-140. However, the red plug that is supposed to plug straight into the dash sisplay is only a single row plug as opposed to the dash double row, so took the one row of the dash plug out that had the same number (6) and colour wires and pushed that onto the pc9-140 plug and hey presto all working.

Ordered my pioneer tsq 131c for £79.99 delivered and next day delivery, from my local sextons. These are in stock as well not like alot of the other audio centres that sya they are coming in tomorrow, and never arrive.

So by next weekend should have a decent sound.

Jason,

I have seen you posts and I am considering purchasing a Sony HU for my 04 Megane.

Could you detail the parts required to use the steering stalk and dash display with the HU. Were there other parts you had to buy other than the facia?

Regards,

Maurice.
