New alternator for bigger system

Postby joeysheff » Wed May 07, 2014 7:32 pm

Hello guys, its been a while since I last posted.

Anyways as im upgrading equipment I forget the most important part of audio. The charging system.
Not sure what amp my alternator is kicking out but it needs to be bigger.

Does anyone know if a Renault Laguna 1.9 dci (120bhp) alternator will fit a Renault Megane 1.9 dci (120bhp)? Found acouple which produce 140-150amps which would be more ideal.

Let me know ASAP.

Thankyou guys.

Not sure if that alt will fit or not but check out www.mechman.com and get a custom one if your willing to spend a few $$$$. I think the smallest they will make is a 170 which technically is enough depending on what equipment you want to use.
I have 2 air compressors (70amps draw total ), JL1000/1v2 (100amps) and 2 300/4v2s (80 amps total) and I was never even able to turn the system up full tilt minus the air compressors being on. Now that was with an XSpower d3400 battery and the stock 110 alt, my voltage would drop below 11v and the amps would cut out.. Now I can have both air compressors on and box on full and my voltage is at 14.2.. I got amps to spare so I'm looking at going bigger since I have power now.
