Where to ground an amp, 2003 megane

Postby number24 » Sat Mar 17, 2012 1:01 am

Hello,

Im getting a lot of noise through the my rear speakers which are amped. Im getting a lot of ground loop noise through the speakers. I've currently grounded it to the rear seat bolt point, scraped away the paint etc. Any ideas?

Thanks
Alastair

Have you run the RCA leads and the power cable down the same side of the car? If you have, that can cause interference.

you need to get hold of a ground noise isolator

you can get cheaper ones thats just an example of what it looks like.

Got to agree I have one and it makes the world of difference, sooo much interference before I was tearing my hair out trying to locate the cause! Mine is this one-https://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_209859_langId_-1_categoryId_165626
I also ran the power down one side and shielded phono cable down the other. If its heavily amplified unless your lucky you need to shield the cables and have a suppressor of some sort if you want quality sound, if your happy listening to distorted booming then I guess the interference is less of an issue..
