Hi, fitted some new speakers and amp and I'm getting a hissing, the hu can be stet to 0 volume still the hissing, it varies with the engine revving...
Now if I pull out the feed from the that goes to the amp the sound vanishes, so that the input to the amp, so am I right in assuming the cheap wire I've used is picking up noise which is then being amplified?
If so would I be right in thinkIng a better quality shielded cable would stop this? And if so can anyone recommend one, it's a phono cable...
Please please help as it's really really really annoying!!!

your cables from your stereo to amp, did you run the power down the oposite side of the car from all the rest, or keep it away from all the rest, as this can cause interference.
if that fails then maybe the +/- is the wrong way around on one or some of the new speakers?
If its none of that then god nose lol

The power runs under the centre of the car, the wires on the left I think, I will check this tho as a mate said the same...
The speaker wire I have is copper in a clear cable so no shield and I havent thought about +/- could that be an issue, guess it wouldn't take much to swap them around,
I think I'll make sure the speaker and power cables are separate and upgrade the speaker(phono) wire to a shielded on as this one was 45p a meter... Lol
You recon that'd sort it??
Thanks for the advice!

Yeah it could be any of those things mentioned mate.
Just have to sort it by eliminating each one lol. time consuming but worth it in the end. Yeah difinatly, poorly insulated cables are always an issue. Hope you do manage to get rid of that hissing tho, there's nothing worse, sound systems need to be super loud and super clear lol

I would hazard a guess at poor quality cable. I have the power and the audio cables running down the same side of the vehicle and have no interference at all.

Cool, sound as I suspected, think I'll try find some decent cable tomorro and separate all the power from audio, fingers crossed that'll sort it! I'll let you know how I get on
