CD Won't eject

Hi all, my CD player won't respond to the eject button for some reason. I have a single shot head unit a 6 cd changer underneath. All is fine with the 6 cd unit and all is fine otherwise with the single shot cd head unit until today when all that happens when I press the eject button is that the unit swaps back to radio.
I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem and if there is a manual way to force the player to eject the CD?
Thanks
Jon

Hello Jonboy!
I am assuming you still have the original Renault head-unit in your car.
If so, give this a whirl. Using the U-shaped tools (You do have them?), remove the head-unit from the dashboard but don't unplug it.
Using a small screwdriver, carefully prise the top from the unit, releasing a small piece each time. The lid is retained by lugs at the back and each side but not at the front. The copper-coloured bit stays behind. There are no screws to remove - easy! Once you have removed the lid the CD mechanism will be clearly visible. Look carefully at the rear of the unit and you will be able to see the edge of the CD itself. Now turn the unit on and press the eject button while at the same time using the edge of your small screwdriver to give the CD a careful nudge. With any luck it will eject. If it ejects, reinsert it and try to eject it again. It is possible that the mechanism is stuck and can be freed off with use.
If this does not work, try giving it a "reboot" - to pinch a computer term - ie remove and reattach the power by removing all the plugs at the back. Wait a few seconds before reconnecting. At the risk of stating the obvious you will of course need to reinput the radio code! If all is well, carefully put the lid back on and push the unit back into the dash. And the best of British...mate. The above worked for me.
Please let us know how you get on.
Cheers, Mike

Mike, I have been reliably informed that 4 suitable sized nails do the job for releasing the head unit. In the spirit of being a tight a*se (me too), I hope you appreciate the minor point!

Dave, as the original duck's ar*e (that is, watertight!), I'm proud of you. Yes those four nails will do the job admirably. Incidentally this is one of the easiest headunits I have ever removed. Insert the nails, press outwards and out she comes. Others I have had the misfortune to remove involved pushing, pulling, inserting, removing the tools and using a screwdriver to drag the unit from the apperture with much scraping!
Cheers, Mike

Hi Mike, thanks for your suggestions. I tried both of them and although your instructions were great the result is that my headunit still has my CD firmly in it's grasp. I think the problem must be a bit more serious as the CD plays and was spinning then stopping randomly while in other modes so I don't think it's even trying to eject. I'm going to try the local dealer as they have been pretty good in the past to see what they think. Otherwise it maybe a visit to ebay is required.
Cheers
Jon
