How do i plug in my ipod to my megane scenic

Hi,
I have recently purchased a megane senic 2006 and am tring to work out how i use my sony stereo which has an ipod connection. I previously had the ipod cable running from the back of the stereo into my glove compartment. I have noticed that there are two holes in the the glove compartment but i read somewere that they have got something to do with the air conditioning! Is this true? do i have to drill a hole into the side of the glove compartment.

Hope someboby can help as i need my ipod when i am driving

I just used one of the existing holes and can't see that it's a problem as the cable is a lot smaller than the hole diameter...
