using an Aftermarket headunit with standard cd changer

Postby obarr » Mon Nov 09, 2009 9:55 pm

Hi,

Can u use the standard autochanger in my 04 Megane with an aftermarket headunit? Is it possible to connect the 2??

Also, just got a vibe active sub like the one in the guide on this forum...can this be connected to the factory head unit? Or will i need to install my old pioneer one??

Cheers

Should be possible if the new head unit is compatible with the VDO-Dayton digital protocol that the standard head unit uses to talk to the changer. Connects2 or others might make an interface that will translate between other CD changer protocols.

Cool,

Thnx for the replyu.

Without checking 1st, I take it there is no way of finding out if it would work?

My mate says that usuaully they need to be the same brand in order for them to work.

Connects2 make adapters that allow them to work together i guess??

Im a total noob, im sorry :)
