Double Din install

Postby Jasonthejoker » Sun Jul 12, 2009 8:32 am

Hi all. I;ve got me a double din headunit. All electrically installed, but looks shocking at the moment! I've got a 2004 megane CC and have removed the CD player and in-dash changer (Both for sale if anyone interested). I've purchased this http://www.incarexpress.co.uk/view_product.php?partno=CT23RT02A and it will give me the cradle to hold the HU. It wont cover all the gap left though. My old stereo fitted flush. Do I need to also purchase this http://www.incarexpress.co.uk/view_product.php?partno=CT24RT06 to cover the gaps around the edge?

I know there's an excellent post about the brilliant Kenwood double din unit but i thought that only required the bit I've bought. Any help very much appreciated.

Cheers

Jason

What you need is the 'connects 2' CT23RT02.

Heres there PDF

http://www.connects2.com/pdfdocs/articles/dd-kits-low.pdf

It states its for a 06-07 megane but i used it to fit my double din and it was a fantastic job.

You can see it here..

Thanks. Did that include the plastic surround and double din cage? I bought the CT23RT02A from which the cage fits, but fascia is too narrow to cover the gaps.

Yea was all that was needed in one box.

• Cage
• Surround
• Brackets to hold it in place.
• Large bits of foam... that I am yet to find a use for.

The cage wouldn’t be in the correct position if the surround didn't fit. I had to put the surround in position first, then the cage went ‘though’ and clipped to it. I then was able to prize down the metal tabs to secure it.

Finally slotted in the radio...

From a post i made a few months back...

I couple wanted to see a double din in stall.

When the original head unit and multi changer / cubby hole are removed there is a cross bar (plastic strip) that needs to be removed by a hack saw or plastic heat cutter, and then filed.

To the rear of the craves created one needs to cut away the top protruding plastic oval ( this is used to hold the original HU in place.) has to be removed to allow attachment of GPS aerial in my case. ( See pic 4 )

Here you can see the cut away plastic and the spliced hand brake wire, to allow use on the move.

I have used the Connects2.com double din cage. On the website it states it's for the Meagne 2008, but the dash has not changed through 2002 - 2008 and in fact once delivered is labelled 2005 - 2007.

Thanks

You get what you pay for lad... There cheep for a reason... Components/GUI (Graphical User Interface) is pish poor.

Your better to save a bit longer and buy a pioneer/alpine etc.

From experience i can tell you if you buy cheep from eBay you will disappointed.
