Does the cd changer need a code

Hi just a quick question but does the megane cd in dash changer deffo need a code??

I think it does.
I got mine here (you have to register first, or they will delete your post). Didn't try it, because I must buy the CD changer cable first. But I hope I will get the cable this week, and try the code.

I understand that it's coded but takes the code of the head unit it was paired with.

I take this to mean that if it is new it takes on the code of the first head unit you attach it to and, therefore, if it is not new it needs the code of the head unit it was originally with.

If this is bad news I know others here have managed to find codes through various means. Use the search facility to see what they did. Someone might even know how to reset it to its 'as new' state.

I got my cable for 35€ at local Renault dealer.
