also to confuse ppl even more... if you've got a late registered phase 1 it could still be a tuner list if they used a "stock" car that had been sitting in a car park for months unregistered until you bought it.
I think you've got an update list... but i can't see why your updatelist won't work currently. It's possible you had the optional Cabasse unit, but if the original owners ordered that (it wasn't a cheap option), then i have no idea why they'd fit an aftermarket radio.
There is one way of telling and that's the yellow square mini-iso cable. Tunerlists and Updatelists have a different pin arrangement. There's a picture floating around on the forum with the 2 connectors identified. If I remember tomorrow, i'll take a picture as i'm adding ipod capability to the car.
I'm guessing the person who fitted the aftermarket stereo didn't buy the remote adapter because it wasn't out when he bought the radio. As was the case with me. I had a fairly new Pioneer stereo but no means of using the steering controls as no updatelist adapter was available to purchase until late 2006 (and i still haven't bothered to buy the adapter still!). FYI: Pioneer don't make a display adapter for update lists. only Tunerlists 2002-2004.
At the time, I did ask the installers to fit an adapter (as i didn't know it wouldn't work) and they said it caused the stereo to behave differently. i.e. mute would cause next track etc...
I believe any updatelist should work. wouldn't make sense to have several differing radios for each model.

Re: Tuner List To Update List?
HI!
I have a megane II 2004 and I had a tuner list cd player. I have upgraded now to a mp3 update list player. I also have bought a dispay for this mp3 update list but I can not make it work. To connect the player to the dispay I have also bought the connector that feeds into the dispay. My main problem is that I do not know how to make the connections from wires that come from the player to the ones that go to the display. Do you guyes have any electrical schemes that I could use?
Thanks in advance!
