MP3 connection

Postby swsgm30 » Thu Oct 09, 2008 1:24 pm

Just bought a Megane Sport Tourer Dynamique (new) and, wanting to use my iPod (3rd Gen),paid the dealer £170 to have the appropriate kit fitted.... I now find I cannot connect using the iPod data socket ,iPod either locks-up and has to be reset or will play 1 track but locks up if any buttons pressed on steering remote.
However, I can connect via the 3.5mm headphone socket but only have Volume control on the remote and no display on the dashboard screen....hardly worth £170 !!

NOW HERE'S THE CRUX OF THIS POST ........ During my experiments, I have connected a USB Memory stick 'loaded' with MP3 'CD's' and have full control via the remote as if there is a CD Multichanger .. next track, next CD, Volume etc ...... to the extent that I no longer require the iPod to work. My dealer has agreed that I can have my money back if I am not happy with the standard interface

Does anybody know of the availability of a lead that will connect to the CD Multichanger socket at the back of the Head Unit that only supplies a USB input??

sorry if I've waffled a bit .. new member

:?:

I think the Renault Tunepoint does, otherwise some of the newer Dension ones.

Thanks Gav .. It's the Tunepoint 'kit' that they've fitted, I'm slightly suspicious that 3rd generation ipods may not be compatable but the user guide does refer to them so Renault must think they're ok

Mate i have tuner list in my Meg, and i would like to listen music from USB stick and for that i searched in eBay and i found this
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CONNECTS-2-CTARNUSB003-RENAULT-USB-INTERFACE-BRAND-NEW_W0QQitemZ160290192360QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item160290192360&_trkparms=72%3A1301|39%3A1|66%3A2|65%3A12|240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
(I'm not sure if u want something like that..)
I asked the seller if that fits in my head unit and he told me that it will work perfect in my renault. I ordered it 2 days ago and when i get it i could say if that works on my head unit....

Thanks for the info, I've checked the kit out via your link and it looks ok ....if you wouldn't mind, perhaps you could let me know if it works ok .. the renault wiring plays the memory stick satisfactorily but is not worth the £170 they have charged
