Stereo Alarm

going through the blackwall tunnel today the radio cut out and the display just said ALARM. Thats a new one on me, does anyone know what it means.

The same thing happened with me some 2-3 days back. I pressed another channel and everything was OK.
Can someone tell what is the thing.

This may be a false RDS alarm signal. The RDS-system has an alarmmode which switches the radio to an alarmbroadcast, like "traffic" and "news" switch the radio to a traffic or newsmessage.

Because you were driving through a tunnel, it's even more likely it was an RDS-signal because most tunnels have advanced securitysystems, including RDS-transmitters. In case of emergency they broadcast instructions or warnings.
