Speakers

Postby PHOENIX » Wed Jan 09, 2008 2:34 pm

Hi everyone, bought my megane about a week ago and I am thinking of replacing the front speakers with a pair of Pioneer TS-Q131C.

But a couple of days ago after heavy rain I noticed a little puddle of water in each of my door trays :(

Ive heard the water comes through the speaker holes in the door! Is this correct? and if so will this problem wreck the new speakers?

Any advice on how to stop the water ingress would be much appreciated.

Thanks

PHOENIX

hi and welcome phoenix :D

i just got my TS-Q131C's about a month or so back. and as ive metioned on a few posts today the rain in belfast last night was wild. now ive never had much if any water in my door pockets. any time i did it was a few mm max. but last night with the rain, drivin' through big deep puddles and other cars splashin' mine from drivin' on the other side i ended up with about 1 inch of water in the drivers pocket and about a half inch on the passenger side. i was so ragin' and was thinkin' about how my speakers would turn out. but when i took them out and looked at them the seemed dry and ok. i think im gonna try and get them covered up just to be extra safe. but the did seem ok.

i spose when you think about it, the new speakers are the same size n that as the old ones, so if the old ones havn't packed in due to the water i guess the new ones should be ok.

id recomend them

Suppose that makes sense, thanks

Just surfing the net for a set of pioneers now :D

Was thinking of puuting a genuine renault 6 CD changer in aswell. Looked at a few meganes and it looks like they just fit under the single CD player, do you know if this is true?

Thanks

Yeah i have 6 cd changer in mine. Been in since i got car. Sits directly below cd player. Presuming there is normally just a cubby hole there.

They fit just under the original CD player. I asume you can just take out the dash board trim under the existing CD player and slot the multichanger in!

How do you upload pictures? :?

I'm presuming they just slot into where your cubby hole thing is. As for wiring i'm not too sure on that. Mine works from steering wheel controls too. With any luck it would just be case of connecting two blocks together and away you go.

Yeah hopefully it will be that easy!

Just waiting for a good one to appear on ebay. There is one on there now but it says it's for 05 onwards!

Just to confirm:

The CD changer slots in and plugs in straight to the back of the existing CD player. It is controlled like normal using the remote on the steering wheel.

I have mine sat in the hole doing nothing since I replaced it with a tunepoint. Looks better even not working than the cubby hole :)
