CAN ANYBODY HELP

HI, JUST RECENTLY BOUGHT MYSELF A 2004 MEGANE AUTHENTIQUE, CAR CAME WITH STANDARD TAPE PLAYER, HOWEVER I NEED A CD PLAYER BUT WHEN I CONTACTED RENAULT DEALER IN STOKE, THEY SAID THAT CD PLAYERS ARE NOT COMPATIBLE.
CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE CLARIFY AND PLS TELL ME WHAT HALF DECENT CD PLAYER WILL WORK IF RENAULT STANDARD DOESNT PLEASE ALSO WOULD LIKE TO KEEP THE STALK CONTROLS WORKING IF POSS ON NEW CD PLAYER .
I HAVE ABOUT £170 TO GET THIS SORTED,
PLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSEEEEEEE HELLLP!!

Have you got a remote display that show's radio station info and stuff alongside the clock or is it built into the headunit itself?

If it's remote then there is no reason why a CD unit won't work. Can you take a pic of the connections on the back?

Can't see em unfortunately. Have you got three connectors? Two approximately the same size and one that's smaller with probably 9 pins?

yeah i'm not very technical but ive got the radio aerial, a lead with white platstic block which looks like speaker lead and a black plastic end which looks like it supplies power and also a small yellow lead. is that any help.

if the cd is compatible what do i need for get the steering controls to work.

Absolutely compatible then, if your car is 2004 then you will need a TunerList variant of the standard stereo. If you are forced to get one from a dealer then it probably won't be cheap but they do come up on ebay from time to time. Alternatively if you want a better quality aftermarket one then virtually any will do, and there are adaptors for the steering wheel controls and display
