cant get update list radio to work

Hi recently bought a update list cd player with code...installed it but no option to enter code just beeps when i push any buttons any ideas?

Isnt the code entered by using the the steering wheel radio stalk?

Yes, but he can't see the digits on the display; something to do with connections. An option is to enter the code by blind typing. Buttons 1-4 for the digits, long press on 6 to confirm. The first press on buttons 2-4 is not counted; it only changes the digit. Not sure if the first press on 1 should be counted or not - somebody confirm.
