Hi Jaybyme

6000 revs in a new car? - you will f*** it before it's run in!

If not new - please accept my apologies! :o

running in

Postby jaybyme » Tue Jul 31, 2007 12:48 pm

The garage said, its fine to give it full revs.
plus I asked at my Renault dealer as well.
Just make sure it has an oil change after the first 1500-2000 miles.
The cars done,500 carefully driven miles, and was only shortly at full power.
I think the old days of having to run engines in are gone.
Had a new Honda civic Vtec, and I was also told by the garage then it was fine to run at full power.

Thanks for the welcome.
Hi.
Davelee-225, how long have you had your R26, and what do you think ?.
must be pretty frustrating not being able to open her up without looking for the old bill all the time.
Have you been on a track yet ?
regards
Jay

Hi jay,

Love the car to bits. Use to have the normal FF meganesport before and can really tell the difference. Ive not put her on track just yet, although have got some track time booked in September.

As for always looking over the shoulder, its not that bad. They'd have trouble keeping up !!!

Hi,
Been out in mine everyday, trying to put some miles on the clock.
Going to wait until I've had the first oil change between 2-3000 clicks before I really get if a long blast at full power.
Can't help but putting my foot down though, when your on the autobahn, and a few cars start comming up behind, flashing.
I do know the listed top end of 236kmh, is very conservative, as it hits the 240-250kmh mark quite easily.
Working it out, it hits 247.5kmh at full power(5500revs), so over 150mph is easily available.
The dealer where I brought mine, sold 10, R26's, and also had a track day with Renault before the car was released.
He also said, the Renault engineers said power outputs of the engine would be over 230hp.
If you want to see an intresting test. Then go to
https://www.sportauto-online.de/.
great magazine here in Germany. The original Trophy, was developed purely to have a good write up from this magazine as it was tested at the Nord Schleife and Hockenheim. It has Sport Auto on its plaque.
have Fun
regards
Jay

Trip to England

Postby jaybyme » Thu Aug 23, 2007 4:05 am

Just done my first trip to England in the R26.
No problems, apart from the weather.
averaged about 29 mpg over 1800km which is not bad considering the fast driving in Germany, and the stop starting, traffic, ferry etc.
Would expect it to get better as it loosens up.
Best of all, have 3000km on the clock, so it's in for an oil change and then I can start really driving the car!.
Happy driving
Jay
