Good evening :-)

Postby Whu1895 » Sun Oct 16, 2016 8:35 pm

Hi,

New owner, well almost. I won a 2003 1.4 Dynamique 3dr this morning on ebay, and will picking it up in a couple of weeks.

Anything I should really worry about, apart from the elcetrics and the usual car checks? What fuse runs the redio, wipers, washers etc please?

Am I right in thinking that if you replace 1 coil, you need to do the other of that pair as well? If only one was replcaed would the engine light go off, and then come on again?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Anyways, will get some pics once I have picked it up.

Steve :-)

Morning Steve, welcome along :tu

Have a look through the problems section.

Re: coils, I can't help but sure someone that can will be along soon enough.

Other than usual checks it's well worth looking out for water ingress and importantly check that the inspection hatch cover within the inner wing is in place as otherwise it's a sure fire thing that you'll have problems with one of the 'brains'

If there's a "diesel-like" clattering and/or stalling on first startup, it's likely to be the dephaser - expensive..
Check all electrical stuff eg central locking, windows. They fail all the time.
Make sure the fan works on all settings - replacing the resistor pack is a pain.
Also, make sure the fan is quiet. Mine isn't.
Make sure that the emergency key is present in the Renault Card. Make sure it works in the passenger door.

Enjoy your Megane!
