I feel rather daft posting this question ... My Megane 1.6 Dynamique (year 07) went in for a service and I checked under the bonnet last night because I noticed that there are spots of oil (not dirty oil I should add) on the ground where I park it and I wanted to be sure that where the leak was coming from before I go back and check with the garage and I noticed that there was no engine cover - I recall there being one before it went for the service. Please please put my mind at ease that this model does carry an engine cover before I make an even bigger fool of myself when I go back to complain at the garage.

If it wasn't dripping before I'd hazard a guess that they either haven't tightened the filter or engine oil drain plug enough or it needs a new washer on the engine oil drain plug.

Good luck with getting it sorted and getting your engine cover back.

Thnak you all for the sound advice. I will let you know how I get on! I am beginning to wonder whether it was wise brigning my Megane to Barbados when I moved over here from Swindon. I couldnt have afforded to buy a car here . I had it from new and no problems in the UK but since coming here a couple of years ago no end of problems, sunroof won't open without me pushing it up while pressing the button, the throttle style handbrake not staying on, the driver's window not working (waitign for a regulator to come from the UK) and now shuddering on start up - other than that it drives well! Never had any problems with previous Megane either. I guess I shall be busy on here looking up the problems and remedies.
