Hi everyone
Currently I drive a 1987 Mini (so I am not new to forums!) however I am looking to change for something that can handle higher mileage and be comfortable and safe on motorways. I have pretty much decided on the Megane 1.5dci. I have been to look at one which is a 54 plate 2005 100bhp model which has only done just over 17000 miles. It drives very nicely however I read that the timing belt is every 72K or 5 years. It has full service history but none seem to state timing belt had been done. My question is - Will this car need its belt doing sometime soon or can I wait for the mileage marker instead? I will be doing about 12000 miles a year going back and forth to college.
The other option I went to look at is the same model engine, trim, year etc. but it had done 40000 miles with fsh. It was about £600 cheaper than the 17000 miler. Which one do you rekon on being better?
Cheers,
Anthony.
(sorry if you get these sort of q's all the time, I'm just a noob to modern cars!)

I just realised I should have put all that in pre ownership q's. Sorry about that.

Scratch all that! I bought the one with 17000 miles on it. So I am now the proud new owner of a 54 plate 1.5 dci 100

It is Dynamique trim and a FAR cry from my old Austin Mini! I have just ordered the pioneer speakers to upgrade the poo originals. I've never heard such a bad standard stereo! lol
