Hi I'm new

Postby Disco_Stu » Mon Mar 09, 2009 7:11 pm

Hi everyone,

My names Stuart, just bought my first car!
Its a 1.6 Dynamique (only 21, insurance is still a bit pricey for a proper RS) but with an R26 bodykit brand new off the forecourt. Was told its a special edition or something, not really sure not seen another with the wee engine, get it on wednesday, can't wait! I'll post some pics once I pick it up

Any tips, suggestions or things to look out for with them?

Cheers

Stu

Hey toosh, yeh some witty friend of mine branded me disco stu...

anyways picked up the car today, not an r26 bodykit, must have been daydreamin, just a sporty kit on it with rear diffuser. Still looks smart.

However I made the mistake of not going over it with a fine tooth comb before signing. Got home, took out the brown paper off the floor, no mats as promised. Lifted the bonnet, no engine cover or battery terminal cover. Closer look inside, cracked and missing trim in the drivers footwell near the rest.
Not happy to say the least. New car with a couple of miles on it, unimpressed :mad
Also decided against payment protection insurance, which i stupidly ended up signing for under a hard sale.

Arnold Clark will be getting a call at 8 tomorrow morning to let them know its being dropped off and i wont be picking it up till its right. If they pish about it'll get cancelled.
Still got my test drive booked for an Alfa Mito on sat :D

A bit gutted after buying my first car, was on my own, made mistakes, but still not good customer service in my eyes.

Do like the car though, looks smart, drives smooth and comfortable.

I'll let you know what happens...

well got it back today, everythin sorted apart from engine cover, I've been told they dont come with one. Strange as theres all the mounting holes for them etc. But they put one on for me, but havent attached it. Can't be bothered wasting more time takin it back so i'll sort it myself.

Happy with the car, not so much with the dealer (doesnt bode well after two days of ownership).

Heres some pics, not great taken with phone, but i'll get some more when its clean and dry :-)

That is one tidy looking Meggy you got there  Is that the same spoiler as the one on the R26R? I want one

Have a search about for wheels some peeps on here are rolling around on 18's which look good.

yeh its the R26R spoiler, quite like it.

the plan is new wheels,
RS bumpers front and rear,
rear section of 225 exhaust to fit bumper, or custom tips for standard one,

then once the warranty is run out, cold air fed induction kit, freer flowing exhaust, remap, hopefully get another 20bhp out of it (regretting buying a 1.6 :( )

"they don't come with one..." The dealers favourite words when you go back with a snagging list. I got told that about my 05 Megane when i asked where the cigarette lighter was, and about the glovebox light that was missing on my 05 Clio. The lying b@st@rds!!

smart looking car there, loving the R26R spoiler, but some how in my opinion it doesn't look right with those wheels, they look too small for the car! i no, they are standard renault though.

still, good luck, hope you get many happy days of motoring out of it!

cheers yeh the wheels dont look big enough to fill the arches, want some 18" ones once i have some money again, deposit on the car it skinted me!

can anyone with bigger wheels tell me how theirs rides with bigger wheels?

got a bit of a thing against low profile tyres, my civic is stock but feels skittish on anything but a smooth road and thats with 17" wheels and not so low profile tyres, tbh its probably just the car tho. Just don't want to lose the grip that a bit of give in the tyre provides on an imperfect surface.

i have 18" wheels on with 225 40 tyres , the ride didnt change at all i think the outside diameter is the same as the standard wheels, lowering the car then made a big improvement on the looks as there were huge gaps between the tyre and arch
