Egr off

Hi,
I own a 2007 grandtour 1,5 dci 106 hp and recently placed egr in closed position manually by my mechanic(also pluged off).As expected I have check engine and service lights on but as engine feels more active with better throttle function and some fuel economy I am willing to permanently have egr off.So,did anybody found any egr simulator or I have to remap ecu(my mechanic is not so eager to do so)?
Any suggestions?
