Re: high tail brake light
You are quite correct. 'To suggest' (avoiding splitting the infinitive) is correct. 'Suggestion' is the second person pluperfect verb formation in the indicative sense. and indeed the construction I intended to use. I failed. The score is therefore approximately 3,100 to 1 - keep up the good work ;-...

Re: new battery
I think this is on the front page of this website as well as in the car's manual. But, it's always good to be reminded - the number of people who ask this question....!

Listening to that makes me think that the pump is kaput. A/C systems contain lubricating oil and R134a gas. Both are critical for longevity. If the pump (driven by a belt) is starved of lubrication for a while, it will fail. Your short clip is too brief to make a diagnosis accurately - it could be a...

Re: advice needed
Mike, Will you please start a new thread in the problems section with your specific issue. Just copy and paste your original message and head it up with 'automatic transmission fault' or something similar. That way we all don't end up talking about two completely separate issues at the same time. I ...

Well, you have a Herculean task that might even make a doctoral thesis. I suggest the title of your magnum opus thus: ''An analysis of 3,100 forum posts on a popular car website regarding consistency, spelling, grammar and style contrasted and compared with the standard base modelling of '1963 Popul...

Re: Anyone with access to CLIP? Disable TPMS
Surely a decent tyre place ought to be able to remove the tyres and allow you to fit new batteries? Must surely be a 10 minute job? Am I missing something (I usually am!)
EDIT: Why disable a safety feature? Not sensible in my opinion... Fix the cause, not the symptom?

I have no knowledge of that particular type of car. However, basic trouble shooting (and the manual) might help; it it important to confirm the source of the problem before buying parts. Simple things you can do are: a) replicate the problem and isolate it where possible b) turn the wheels from lock...

Mick - and I'm only making fun - '.co.uk' means in the UK. Proper English does not recognise 'gotten'. This ******* pseudo verb has no place amongst our islands! I'm a pedant and; so I hate Americanisms. The bottom line is don't verb nouns... If in doubt use 'remove / disconnect' et.al. Your technic...

Re: Car Service
The harmonic balancer which drives the alternator etc, should be visible and it is advisable to change this belt (it is ribbed). However, this is not the timing belt which is toothed and should be behind a plastic shroud. This whole set-up is behind the balancer which has to be removed for access in...

Looks like you have a nice motor there. Have fun!
By the way we don't generally slate other marques here - usually just Renault

Someone will provide you with some advice - it will be in the manuals at the top of this forum.
My hazy recollection from years back is that the A/C system is not normal, but that is from my own bad memory. Have a search, I remember this being a hot topic a few years back. It was resolved.

Unfortunately not.
The last time I checked, some continental company was asking silly money for these.

Off hand I can't remember, but that fuse/switching module is the devils own work to access. You might have to remove the battery, its tray and the ECU (but those are simple!)
