Re: Cheap EGR valves - 1.9 dci 2004

Hi Alex, I did indeed as I remember your advice from 3 years ago, which helped me fix a very similar problem. I've actually got 2 EGR valves, the original and another genuine Pierburg one. Idea was to have one spare which I could take time to get really clean without needing the car off the road. I'...

Re: EGR won't budge!

Sounds like you have similar symptoms to mine (1.9 dci 2004, 125k miles), which it's had since I bought it 3 years ago - after long run vibrates when idling, few short runs it's ok. Always suspected EGR valve but having removed, cleaned and even replaced it symptoms remain. I do now have an emission...

Re: MOT Woes !!

I know what you mean. I've never had a car which requires so much work on it and I've some right bangers in my time (10 year old mini, 12 year old Sierra,11 year old Primera) as I generally buy cars at 4 years old and keep them until they die. I used to enjoy doing the odd bit of work myself and lea...

Re: Cheap EGR valves - 1.9 dci 2004

Some good news for a change... Emission warning and 'Service' lights have both gone off and car running as before (bit lumpy after long run, ok otherwise). Maybe car has adjusted to the spare EGR valve, maybe it's given up waiting for me to do something! Either way the cheap overseas copy is going b...

Re: MOT Woes !!

Sounds similar to my pre-MOT check last year - in fact my quote to repair was £998 and they recommended scrapping the car! I did the work myself (Haynes, Renault manual) for £220 including a couple of tools. Passed MOT with no issues. Of the items shown I've changed some. New rear discs and pads - C...

Cheap EGR valves - 1.9 dci 2004

Bought a new EGR valve from well known auction site. For price I was expecting a non-original and that's what I got. Nice shiny valve arrived, looked good, matched original. Decided to test it before fitting it using Pierburg/Renault tests. Potentiometer showed resistance of 0.17K Ohms against spec ...

Re: Advice needed

On YouTube search for:

megane door panel removal

You will find some good videos explaining what a door card is and how to remove it.

Then try:

megane fan failed

There is at least one video, which may be in French but should help.

Re: Spring Change

It would be handy to say what model you have to get a more detailed response but speaking as a 1.9dci 2004 owner... If it's rear springs I changed those with no special tools - just socket set, jack and axle stands. Took 30 mins to do both. Haven't done them on a Megane but from previous cars I know...

Re: Megane not starting - This is happening intermittently.

I had similar issue with my 1.9dci - sometimes no elecs whatsoever and car would not start, most of the time ok. Door opening didn't make any difference. Turned out the battery negative was a tiny bit loose despite looking well done up. Tightened this fully and not had a problem since.

Re: oil problem

I can't see the pics (adult content warning!) but here's what happened with my 1.9dci at around 85k. Had an oil change then started using lots of oil. Prob coincidence as turned out return pipe from filler bottle to engine was blocked, cleared that and better since. It's still using oil - probably a...

Re: 1.9dci120 - P0487 EGR Open circuit or short circuit error

Afternoon all, I've seen this code reported before and wondered if anyone has got to the bottom of it? Equates to Renault code DF016. Manual does say when DF016 is seen engine will be unstable and difficult to start, mine is fine. I did get it 3 years ago, cleaning EGR valve and associated pipework ...

Re: 1.9dci120 - new fule filter and won't start!

My 'spare' EGR valve (currently fitted) is separated and sparkling clean. Previous one is now also very clean although not separated yet - I can't see any soot in the gaps between the two halves so have let it as one for convenience (easier to get the valve out in one piece). Had this error before 3...

Re: 1.9dci120 - new fuel filter and won't start!

Sorted - removed the outlet pipe from filter, primed again and started first time. Should have fully primed the first time...

That's the good news - now the P0487 code is back despite changing the EGR valve for my nice clean spare...doh!

1.9dci120 - new fule filter and won't start!

Hi all, As title - I changed the fuel filter, primed but car won't start. Turns over fine but won't kick in. No obvious bubbles in the fuel lines. Open the bleed valve on the filter and diesel freely runs out. Hoping it's just air in the system somewhere so any advice on best way to purge most welco...

Re: Check Injections

My last pre MOT check found £998 worth of work required so good luck!!! Fortunately I'm reasonably handy with a spanner so did it all myself for around £220... otherwise it would have been goodbye Megane!
