Re: Megane problems

Had my 2005 1.5dci for seven and a half years, never let me down. Little niggles fixed early on under warranty apart from one electric window which cost me £35 to fix myself.

1. Owned by a boy who prangs cars. 2. Boy did not care enough to get a job and pay for own car. 3. Missing alloy (probably kerbed) and cracked windscreen indicate previous level of care/maintenance. 4. Not run for 6 months. Battery and electrics will be dead. 5. Seized brakes? Tyres? Timing belt? 6....

Re: Anyone Else OCD about parking there Megane?

If there are plenty of spaces on the car park I now park over the white dividing lines and take up two spaces

Re: Anyone Else OCD about parking there Megane?

Ditto. 95% of the time when I come back to my car there's someone parked at the side of me even if the rest of the parking area is largely empty If there are plenty of spaces on the car park I now park over the white dividing lines and take up two spaces giving no one the chance to park next to me. ...

Re: Just put my CC through her first MOT

Personally I would change the front tyres. You may be a careful driver but it only takes one idiot to pull out of a side street or one child to run into the road and then you might reflect that investing £150 in two good quality front tyres would have been a wise investment (particularly as they wil...

Was the water pump replaced at the same time as the belts?

Re: Just put my CC through her first MOT

I'd definitely change the 3mm tyre. Read this:- http://www.3mmtyres.co.uk/ If you look at the tyre reviews below you may be shocked by how bad the Infinity really are. (You have to scroll down to the very last tyre!) http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyres_For/Renault/Megane.htm :-(

Re: timing belt cost

I bought the timing belt kit and auxiliary belt online for £81 and my local garage charged me £124 (3 hours labour) to fit them. So £205 in all. ( I didn't change water pump as the belts were done due to age, 5 years old, rather than mileage which was only 24k). A water pump is about £25 and may add...

Re: HELP! indicator bulb blown !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stick your arm up through the access panel in the wheel arch (with steering on full lock) and feel for the back of the bulb holder. It's shaped like the stopper on a hot water bottle. To get it out turn 1/4 turn anti clockwise and pull backwards. Once out give it a clean and replace the bulb before ...

Re: 2007 Megane II DCI 150 GT Brake Servo

If a Renault dealer can do the job in 3 hours and the RAC will pay for 3 hours why not let Renault fix it? I sure as hell wouldn't let Halfords anywhere near the brakes on my car. If you've only had the car 6-10 weeks you should be putting the onus on the dealer who sold you the car to sort it out a...

Re: car tax question

No difference under the bonnet but the heavier weight of the car requires slightly more fuel to accelerate it and therefore more emissions out of the exhaust.

I think the £30 tax limit is 120g/km of CO2 which the hatchback only just meets and the estate is just over at 124 g/km of CO2.

Bummer.
