1.9 DCi - Consuming oil at a rate of 250ml per 5000 miles

I’m hoping that someone on this forum might be able to help me with a concern I have with my 55 plate Megane Scenic 1.9 DCI which has done 56,000 miles… I have had the car from new. The old girl has started to consume oil at the rate of about 250 ml per 5000 miles. There is no oil leaking from the e...

Use a longer breaker bar!! 8)

These nuts are always really tight, and you will need to replace them when you come to put the shafts back again.

Good luck - think Gorrilla Power! :D :D

Glow plugs can fail after only a few thousand miles or they can go on for ever; I always thought they were classed as serviceable parts and as such not covered under any warranty? True IainMW - but what got me was the charge for putting the "Wizz-Bang Buck Rodgers" computer on to the car to tell me...

I will get back with what they found at the end of next week. Have a great weekend folks. :D As promised I am back with my findings from Renault. One glow-plug was found to be at fault. I wanted them all changing but the cost was 26€ each plus labour of 0.5 hr each (I was quoted). I had just ...

Thanks for you replys guys. I have given the local Lexembourg Garage S**t over this as I have had to book it in early for its service - after all they need it a day for anything! I will get back with what they found at the end of next week. As as be suggested this message can mean a lot of things, s...

Check Injection - Yet Another at 55000 KMs

I started the car this morning only to see that the service light has come on with the message “Injection A Contolour” I guess this is the “Check Injection” message that I keep reading about. I am assuming that it will be one of the glow-plugs, as if I stop the engine after s...

I have a new record for my 1.9DCi Scenic! :D :D :D I managed to get 1010km (631.25 Miles) on a tank driving around 30% urban and 70% highway. Aircon was on for most of this duration due to the warmer weather. I did not drive the car over 120km/hr at any time - I was on an experiment to see if I coul...

1.9Dci Air filter replacement - advice required.

My 2005 Scenic 1.9 Dci is due a 60,000 Km service very shortly. I am assessing how to replace the air filter. I have looked in the Haynes Manual, and on a thread in the FAQ section of this forum which make the job out to be relatively straight forward. I have tried to remove the filter from the air ...

Thanks for your input Dave P and Stranger. :D I will try the hill trick Dave and let you know – there are quite a few hills in Luxembourg so I will try on my way home this evening. On the high-way this afternoon (sunny and outside air temp indicated at 27*C) the system kept up nicely an...

Its done it again!! :( :x   Yesterday was very hot here in Luxembourg (indicated 29*C sunshine) I was in traffic with the air-co set at 19.5*C and the cabin was no where near that cool, and all of a sudden I can feel warm, humid air blowing at me   at the same time...

My first Megane Privilege had the blue reflective windscreen, but my second Phase II didn't and I found the aircon/CC to be much more effective on the later car. I know they made some tweaks to the aircon, so maybe thats why. Thats what the dealer told me too. Maybe he was telling the truth after a...

Thanks Ray. I have done this in the past, but wanted to know if others had the same experience with their aircon. Sound like you do... Ray do you have the blue screen that reflect the Infra red? I am thinking this could be part of my problem, as I have the standard screen. I was told by the dealer w...
