Re: West Bromwich - Arnold Clark

Chris, Not sure of what warranty you have - but I assume you did get some. You need to put everything in writing and make a formal complaint. Some companies will take a letter seriously. I too have a local AC and the culture is such that I'm sure it will make no difference - little comfort I know. O...

Re: Air bag warning lights!

Turby, had a similar problem with Nov 03 1.6. Was advised my dealer that I'd moved the seat with engine on - a common Megane problem. Its happened again - local Arnold Shark wants £ 300 to fix, but their investigation actually fixed the problem - see if you can tape up the wires under the seat. As i...

Re: supa unleaded?

Which magazine did a report last month and concluded that it was inconclusive ! They used a dci Megane and found normal diesel was better than the super stuff. I have a 1.6 petrol and do a round trip of 35 miles per day includes the M6, which is slow in a morning and flowing at night the mpg meter n...

Re: Starter problems

Terry - is it going to be that simple - are we going down the depahser pully line ?

Are there any other symptoms - does it start and appear as though its got insufficient fuel, ticks over only with a bit of throttle ?

Meg,

Dealers will charge around £ 60 - £ 70 diagnose I know REA do in MCR. Its worth getting them to diagnose and someone else to repair ?

Re: 53 reg Starting problems

mfan, Just to cheer you up in these days of financial enlightenment. The early cars suffer from this starting problem, where it is the depahser pulley those fine folks at the main dealer know only too welll about it - in fact the most inexperienced receptionist will be well aware of your problem. Re: Using the Emergency Key

Gaz, had similar problems 2 winters ago in the frost. Seems there was a sensor which was getting wet and icing up - replaced under warranty (would the dealer mislead me..........!) Also as you note the batteries are a problem once they go - so just repalce both - they are only about £ 3 ea. The meta...

Re: Dreaded Dephaser Pulley has caught me....

Try £ 584, which included timing belt as Renault advise that it should be done. As for Renault themselves -try through their website. They will claim no responsibility. Mine went at 26,000 - 4 months out of warranty and I know some on here have had £'s contributions. My next step is to get an "...

Re: driverside window

Mark, I have had similar problems with the window - I'm not fixing it as yet as there are so many other things to fix I'm hoping something major happens to the car and I don't see it anymore. As for the airbag light - the problem is the wires under your seat. You have probably moved the seat and pul...

Re: Service and brakes

I agree with the 18 k or 2 years as is the case on the older models (I have a 11/2003 5 door ) , but I also have a cc (6/06 reg) and its service intervals are annually. As for price I'm paying about £ 170 for the oil change and £ 240 for the major service on the older car. The cc annual service is u...

Re: Brake Discs

ngkmn, Can confirm I have had a similar experience re brakes and can confirm that the details above are correct re the wear. I'm down to the limit on my fronts (but there's still an inch left ! 25 mm) and the rears are 7 mm and the limit is 6.5mm. Local "dealer" quoted 2 x £ 300. I think t...
