Re: Stickies for fuel consumption

The best the trip on my '53 plate 1.6 has ever read was 38 mpg on a 200 mile run at the weekend down the M4, at a steady 76 mph (according to the satnav, 80 mph on the speedo), excluding a few sections of 50 mph average speed cameras. Round town, it does little more than 28 mpg; it gets serviced reg...

Re: keyless entry

I had mine serviced just before Christmas and thought this 'new problem' was some consequence of the garage messing with the electrics. I took it back in and they told me the sticking door buttons story - £16 per button plus labour + VAT. They now stick from time to time (only on the drivers side). ...

Re: Electric Window faults

Hmmm,

I did wonder why whenever I jetwash my '53 plate Dynamique, I can pull away the driver's door rubber door seal along the bottom edge of the door and water floods out! I dread to think what corrosion is going on away from prying eyes..!

Re: Locking/key card problem

Hi mate, I had my car serviced 3 weeks ago - 5yr cambelt, gold service, MOT, dephaser pulley (grrrr!), water pump, brakes blah blah. £801 bill just before Christmas, most unwelcome! When I sat in the car to take it home, the locking went nuts. After that, the o/s front/rear door sensors wouldn't wor...

Thanks for that - I'll add that to the snagging list for the garage!

Pulls to the right after a service..

Hi All, New brakes were fitted at the 5yr service a week ago, and since then I'm sure it 'pulls' to the right. Is this possible? Will I be within my rights (or instead, a ranting moron) to point this and demand it be sorted when I take my car back in this week for some other work..?? Also, the off-s...

Excellent, thanks for this info.

I'll ensure that any cam-belt related works get done while my engine's in bits, this time around!

Re: '53 plate Megane, 33k miles - Cambelt needed at 5yrs???

Thank you all for your very helpful and speedy replies. I will proceed with the work, costed at £322, by my local main dealer. As an aside, will this work cure my cambelt dephaser pulley woes? I had this sorted in year 2 under warranty, but it has started to recurr, albeit intermittently. I've asked...

'53 plate Megane, 33k miles - Cambelt needed at 5yrs???

Hi, My 5yr old Megane goes in for a service in a couple of weeks time, and the garage advised that I need the costly cambelt service (ca. £350) because of the cars age. My dad's Vectra has the cambelt work done based on mileage, not age.... The car's only done 33k miles - do I need the work doing???...

Re: Air con problems

Well, after thinking my air-con doesn't work, it does! Very cold it is too.

Shame it doesn't work all the time! I can only imagine that it is a faulty switch somewhere in the process...

Re: Air con problems

Thanks for that info.

Summer's approaching, so I'm going to have to book it into my dealer to try and get this sorted. However, the last two days I tried the A?C, it seemed to work perfectly (though still no audible click of the compressor).

Hmmmmm.

Re: Air con problems

Thanks Rob,

I don't recall hearing anything, but I will check tomorrow. How much is a new pump do you know, or can they be fixed, or is there possibly some other reason why the pump might not be cutting on?

Cheers - Steven.

Air con problems

Hi, I've had my car from new (4yrs ago last December). In the third year of ownership, I noticed that the air con wasn't getting as cold as it should. During one of the several visits to the service department, I had this checked over and was told that it was cooling just fine. Ho-hum. (And since th...
