I know it's not the same engine, but my 1.5 has always given a small amount of smoke on a cold start, but used hardly any oil in it's first year (did not need topping up) so I think it is just a rich mixture for the 1st few seconds.

Yes the auto mirror was an annoying deletion, but the fundamental things that make the facelift better are: Improved steering feel More progressive brakes Improved quality of cabin materials More refined (simply more sound insulation I think) Also the 2006 onwards Meganes have stormed up the reliabi...

Nicky, Never buy facelifted models, their production stops before the end of the finance. Nobody will see the difference. Better invest a few quid in service, renovation, tyres, brakes, etc. A good rule of thumb I agree, but in the Megs case the facelift is more than just a new nose, it is a signif...

The recall is to replace the diesel return pipe to rectify a "potential fuel leak which could cause an immobilising breakdown"

Mine is having the work done on friday along with the 12k service.

Well the facelift model is a better overall car but the 1.4 is slower, less economical, and not as refined at speed as the diesel.

My first service (12k) is due soon, I have 3 dealers within 20 miles of me so phoned them for quotes and got 3 prices, £225, £175 and £157 so it is certainly worth shopping around!

My car came with the Continentals fitted, 11k miles in and the fronts are wearing rapidly, I reckon I will get another 5 or 6k out of them at best.

I do a lot of town driving though and the Conti's are are soft, grippy, quiet tyre so I'm not too concerned.

Sounds like a 3 year lease car to me, given back just before the big 54k service is due. The 18k service interval has been changed to 12k on later models mainly because of oil being pushed too far and causing turbo problems, but this car should be ok as it's unlikely to have done loads of short trip...

My 56 plate facelift Dynamique has auto lights and wipers as standard and no cruise, I did notice the spec changed recently, I think it was just as the 07 plates came in.

If you want refinement then the Megane will fit the bill, it's very nice wafting along the motorway in quiet, air-conditioned comfort with loads of torque under your right foot whilst also knowing you are doing 60mpg and only paying £35/year road tax! I would say go for the 100hp as a minimum,...

My Dci 106 has done 9000 miles now and I have to say it's a cracking engine, the performance is amazing considering the economy figures and it just seems to get better in both regards as the miles go on. Bigfish - there is an electronic torque limiter in place for the 1st 3700 miles (6000km), it wil...

Ahh but have you lost anything? I checked the Dynamique hatch specs recently and noticed it had gained cruise but lost auto lights/wipers and footwell lighting.
